North Gate Organics CSA Program
CSA stands for Community Shared Agriculture. This food distribution model unites the farmer and the consumer for the growing season. The program provides the customer with a box of fresh, seasonal vegetables each week from mid-June until late October (approx. 20 weeks). In return, the farmer receives capital when it is most needed at the beginning of the season, and develops a direct relationship with the customer.
Examples of Vegetables in Season: June- lettuce mix, spring peas, radishes, green onions, arugula, spinach, white Japanese turnips, kale, broccoli, swiss chard, and beets July- broccoli, carrots, cauliflower, cucumbers, beans, kale, lettuce mix, tomatoes, summer squash, beets, cabbage, kohlrabi, and swiss chard August- carrots, kale, tomatoes, peppers, beets, beans, eggplant, summer squash, lettuce mix, cucumbers, fennel, melons, onions, and potatoes September and October- broccoli, cauliflower, kale, peppers, potatoes, winter squash, pumpkins, melons, spinach, leeks, onions, tomatoes, carrots, beets, eggplant, brussel sprouts, and lettuce mix 2015 CSA Program
